Official government filing fees charged by WIPO are fixed and published. Local attorney or agent costs are entirely separate, optional in some cases and mandatory in others — this page keeps the two clearly apart so you can budget the real total.

Madrid System rules you need to know

  • A Madrid application requires an existing base application or registration at your home office (office of origin), which certifies and transmits the international application.
  • The WIPO basic fee covers up to three classes; each further class is charged separately, and every designated country adds its own individual designation fee.
  • You cannot designate your own office of origin, and the international registration remains dependent on the base mark for the first five years.
