Madrid System rules you need to know
- A Madrid application requires an existing base application or registration at your home office (office of origin), which certifies and transmits the international application.
- The WIPO basic fee covers up to three classes; each further class is charged separately, and every designated country adds its own individual designation fee.
- You cannot designate your own office of origin, and the international registration remains dependent on the base mark for the first five years.
